The governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Bauchi State, Barrister Ibrahim Kashim, has formally resigned his membership of the party, effective October 16, 2026.
Kashim announced his resignation in a statement titled “A Message to My Supporters and the Good People of Bauchi State,” which was circulated on social media.
In the statement, the former NDC candidate did not disclose his next political move or indicate whether he intends to pursue his governorship ambition under another political platform.
However, he maintained that his decision to leave the party would not affect his commitment to the political struggle for the development of Bauchi State.
He said the decision followed careful reflection, adding that the state deserved purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, greater opportunities for youths and women, improved security, and a future in which every citizen could live with dignity and hope.
Kashim also assured his supporters that his political journey was far from over, stressing that his commitment to the development of Bauchi State remained unwavering.
“Our political journey is far from over, and our commitment to the rescue and development of Bauchi State remains unwavering,” he stated.
He added that he would continue to engage with individuals and groups who shared his vision of a peaceful, prosperous, and economically vibrant Bauchi State.
The former candidate urged his supporters to remain calm, steadfast, and united, assuring them that he would communicate the next phase of their political journey in due course.
“Our mission is bigger than any political party; it is about the future of our people and the destiny of our state and country,” he said.
