A senior aide to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has condemned the growing wave of brutal attacks in Kwande Local Government Area.
According To NewsVista Reporter, Fidelis Unongu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, spoke during an interview with AIT News while reacting to fresh killings in Abande community and nearby villages.
He described the violence as heartbreaking and called for urgent joint action between the federal and state governments to stop the bloodshed. Reports show that armed men attacked Abande Market in Turan Ward on February 3 2026, shooting traders, looting goods and setting stalls on fire.
Days later, another attack hit Anwase Market in Mbaikyor Ward, leaving at least 13 people dead, many abducted and properties destroyed. Hundreds of residents have since fled their homes.
Unongu revealed a shocking detail, saying a pregnant woman was killed, her stomach opened and her baby taken before being dumped. He said such cruelty must never be allowed to continue.
