The Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and the Olota of Ota, Professor Adeyemi Obalanlege, on Wednesday visited the scene of an accident that occurred on Tuesday at the Toll Gate axis in Ota.

Tribune Online recalls that six people lost their lives when a tanker rammed into a tricycle, resulting in multiple fatalities and several injuries.

In a statement by the Superintendent Route Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Odunsi Afolabi, the Deputy Governor and the Olota were joined by the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fasakin, who was represented by the Ag. Unit Commander, Ota Unit Command, Chief Route Commander Wasiu Ogunmefun, at the scene.

The Deputy Governor expressed condolences to the families of the victims on behalf of the State Government, while directing the Council Chairman and all security agencies present to immediately clear all illegal roadside traders.

She emphasised that these encroachments significantly obstruct the safe movement of vehicles.

Salako-Oyedele urged transport union members and the general public to work in harmony with law enforcement agencies to ensure a seamless and free flow of traffic within the corridor.

The Deputy Governor underscored the State Government’s commitment to the safety of its citizens and its “zero-tolerance” stance on traffic obstructions.
