As the African Democratic Congress (ADC) prepares for its congresses, the Imo State Chairman, Prof. James Okoroma, has reaffirmed the readiness of the party in the state to conduct a credible exercise.
He said the screening process will mark a critical stage in strengthening the party’s structure and positioning it for effective participation in future electoral activities.
While expressing confidence in the process, Okoroma described it as a necessary step towards building unity, discipline, and a results-driven leadership within the party.
He said, “With the screening now underway, attention has shifted to the successful conduct of the congress, which is expected to produce a new set of party leaders across various levels in Imo State.”
According to him, the exercise is widely seen as a test of the party’s organisational capacity and its commitment to democratic principles.
The state chairman confirmed that all necessary arrangements have been concluded, ensuring a smooth, transparent, and orderly screening process across the state.
Leading the national screening committee to the ADC party secretariat in Owerri on Tuesday, the chairman, Hon. Mayor Eze, outlined the procedures that will guide the exercise, stressing strict compliance with party guidelines.
He emphasised that the screening will be conducted with fairness, discipline, and accountability, leaving no room for bias or irregularities.
According to him, only aspirants who meet the established criteria and demonstrate commitment to the party’s ideals will be cleared to participate in the congress.
Hon. Eze further reassured party members that the national leadership is committed to upholding internal democracy and due process.
He called on aspirants and stakeholders to cooperate fully with the committee and maintain decorum throughout the exercise.
