Kaduna Electric gives update on power supply

The Kaduna Electric Distribution Company (KEDC) has notified customers across its franchise areas of ongoing power supply disruptions, citing nationwide gas shortages and a transmission fault as the primary causes.

In a statement titled “Power Supply Update” released on Wednesday, the company explained that the outage resulted from challenges beyond its control, including gas shortages affecting electricity generation nationwide and a fault on the 330kV Shiroro Lines 1 and 2, which supply its transmission stations.

According to the statement, the fault has forced the company to receive reduced electricity supply through the 330kV Jos line due to load limitations.
“Dear Valued Customers, we are writing to inform you that the recent service interruptions are due to challenges beyond our direct control. These include nationwide gas shortages affecting generation and a fault on the 330kV Shiroro Lines 1 & 2, which supply our transmission stations,” the statement read.
“Due to this fault, we are currently receiving reduced supply via the 330kV Jos line due to load limitations. Our technical team is in constant communication with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to monitor efforts to fully restore the primary lines.”

The company assured customers that efforts are ongoing in collaboration with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to restore normal power supply as soon as possible.
KEDC provides electricity distribution services to Kaduna, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara states.

The company expressed appreciation for customers’ patience and understanding while work continues to resolve the issues and normalize supply.
