Insecurity: Suspected bandits kill forest guard, abduct wife in Kwara

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Wednesday night reportedly attacked Oba-Isin community in the Isin local government area of Kwara state, killing a forest guard and abducting his wife.
It is recalled that a forest guard, Mr Omotosho Olawuyi Samuel, was reportedly killed by bandits during a gun duel between the team of security operatives and the bandits in Koro community in the Ekiti local government area.

The suspected bandits, said to be about 20 in number, attacked the rural community around 7.00 pm when the residents were preparing to go to bed.

Tribune Online gathered that a forest guard was killed while his wife was abducted by the suspected terrorists.
It was also gathered that the hoodlums invaded the community through the Owa Onire route to lay an ambush on the residents despite the deployment of army personnel in the area.
A resident of the ancient town who spoke on the condition of anonymity confirmed the attack to newsmen in Ilorin last night.

He said: “Oba Isin is boiling. One killed. A forest guard killed. His wife abducted. The identity of the slain officer is yet to be officially released”.

A police source in the Isin Divisional Police Headquarters, who sought anonymity, confirmed the incident.
