I can never be anti-Peter Obi – Dele Momodu

A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has refuted allegations that he harbours anti-Peter Obi sentiments, insisting that he has consistently supported the former Anambra governor.

Momodu made the clarification on his verified X handle while responding to a social media user, @Blazeregent, who accused him of bias against Obi. The criticism followed Momodu’s earlier comment urging a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stalwart, Bode George, to purge himself of what he described as anti-Atiku sentiments.

Reacting to Momodu’s stance, the X user wrote: “Purge yourself anti-OBI first. You have no moral right to criticize matters like this. If you have the right to be perpetual anti-OBI, so is anyone else to be perpetual anti-ATIKU. Daddy wa, please go and rest.”

In his response, Momodu rejected the claim, stating that he first supported Peter Obi when former Vice President Atiku Abubakar chose him as his running mate during a previous presidential contest.

“I can never be anti-Obi. The first time I supported Obi was when Atiku picked him as running mate,” Momodu wrote.

He further dismissed insinuations of any lingering rift between Obi and Atiku, maintaining that both political figures have continued to relate with mutual respect in both private and public engagements.

“I’m not aware they are enemies. They always treat each other with mutual respect in private and public,” he added.

Momodu’s remarks come amid heightened political conversations within opposition circles as parties reposition ahead of future electoral contests.
