According To NewsVista Reporter, prominent lawyer Bulama Bukarti has raised serious legal concerns over controversial statements made during a recent national broadcast.
Speaking on Monday February 16 2026 in an interview monitored by Channels Television, Bukarti explained that if the matter ends up in court the person involved could face a damaging legal dilemma.
According to him the individual must either stand by the televised claim which would amount to admitting involvement in illegal wiretapping or deny it and openly admit to lying on national television. Bukarti stressed that both options carry heavy consequences.
He noted that within Nigerian law secretly recording private conversations without legal approval is a serious offence under existing cybercrime and telecom regulations.
