The traditional religious worshippers in Bauchi State have declared a five-day period of spiritual prayers and fasting commencing on 28 February 2026 in honour of the immediate past Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar SAN.
The declaration was made by the Chief Priest, Mbami Iliya Sabka, during the annual African Traditional Religion prayer gathering held in Bauchi.
According to the Chief Priest, the spiritual exercise is intended to seek divine wisdom, protection, long life and renewed strength for the former Governor as he continues to contribute to governance and leadership development in Nigeria.
Mbami Iliya Sabka noted that the five-day spiritual observance will coincide with the Ramadan fasting period, emphasising the importance of interfaith harmony and collective spiritual reflection across religious divides in the state.
He described the initiative as a demonstration of unity and shared commitment to the peace and progress of Bauchi State and the nation at large.
Addressing traditional believers and community members, the Chief Priest urged them to remain steadfast in prayers for leaders at all levels, stressing that sustained spiritual support is vital for responsible leadership and good governance.
He further encouraged adherents to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and national cohesion in line with Nigeria’s Renewed Hope agenda.
The traditional religious worshippers reaffirmed their commitment to fostering peace, tolerance and mutual respect among diverse religious and ethnic communities in Bauchi State.
They called on citizens to use the period of prayer and fasting as an opportunity for reflection, reconciliation and renewed dedication to nation-building.
The five-day spiritual exercise is expected to attract traditional worshippers from across Bauchi State and serve as a platform for reinforcing communal solidarity and shared aspirations for sustainable development in Nigeria.
