Motorists lament as petrol price jumps to N1,350/litre in Sokoto

The price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, surged to ₦1,350 per litre across filling stations in Sokoto on Monday evening, triggering fresh concerns among motorists and residents.

Checks by our correspondent revealed that the product, which sold for about ₦1,100 per litre earlier in the day, rose sharply to ₦1,350 shortly after the breaking of the fast.

Motorists who spoke with our correspondent expressed frustration over the sudden increase, describing it as an additional burden amid the prevailing economic hardship.

One of the motorists lamented that the persistent hikes in petrol prices were worsening the cost of living and urged the government to urgently intervene.

“We can’t continue like this honestly. Government has to act; the suffering is too much on us,” he said.

Many residents also called on the Federal Government and relevant authorities to find a lasting solution to the recurring increase in fuel prices, warning that the situation could further affect transportation costs and the prices of goods and services across the state.
