Court remands man over N300,000 generator theft in Badagry

A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Badagry, Lagos State, has on Tuesday ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Isaac Thosu, in a correctional centre after he pleaded guilty to charges bordering on stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on December 29, 2025, at about 8.30 p.m. at No 12, New Layout, Ilogbo-Eremi, Badagry, Lagos.

Ekpo alleged that the defendant stole one big Elemas Generator and one tiger generator belonging to a complainant, one Bolaji Bankole.

Both generators are valued at N300,000.

The prosecutor also alleged that the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace by acting in an unruly manner, adding that he was consequently arrested.

The defendant, Isaac Thosu, was brought to court by the police on a two-count charge of stealing generators valued at N300,000 and causing a breach of the peace.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene provisions of Sections 168 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Nurudeen Layeni, ordered his remand at the Nigerian Custodial Centre in Badagry, and adjourned the case until May 15, for a review of fact and sentencing.
