Rivers State Government has reiterated its dedication to the growth and development of youths in the state, describing the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a vital platform for nurturing future leaders.
The assurance was given by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board, Dagogo Wokoma, during a meeting with the State Coordinator of the NYSC, Moses Oleghe, in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
According to a statement by Juliana Masi, Head of the Information and Public Relations Unit in the Office of the Secretary, Wokoma commended the NYSC scheme for its role in mentoring young Nigerians and assured the corps of continued support from Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
During the visit, State Coordinator Moses Oleghe highlighted several ongoing NYSC projects sponsored by the Rivers State Government including the regular payment of corps members’ allowances, the provision of a vehicle for the zonal office, the construction of a new NYSC secretariat, and the development of new hostels at the permanent orientation camp in Nonwa-Gbam Tai.
