Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, on Monday to personally offer his condolences following the passing of the former governor’s mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
Hajiya Umma passed away in Cairo, Egypt, on Friday after a brief illness at an advanced age.
A post on the X handle of the media aide to the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed that during the visit, VP Shettima described the deceased as a woman of great virtue and a pillar of strength for her family.
He offered prayers for the repose of her soul and for the El-Rufai family to find the strength to navigate this difficult period of mourning.
The late matriarch was buried at the Gudu Cemetery in Abuja on Sunday, shortly after Jana’iza (Muslim funeral prayer) at the National Mosque.
